Jessie is the Waste Diversion / Recycling Supervisor at the University of Alberta and has been there for over five years. Her responsibilities include the planning and implementation of the Zero Waste program to ensure the University reaches its diversion goals of 90% by 2020 and 1500 MT of Organics annually.
Jessie analyzes current operations, provides recommendations and feedback on expanding the delivery of services and is responsible for researching best practices for waste diversion and solid waste procedures. Jessie also oversees and administers training to internal and contracted staff members on the correct procedures related to the Zero Waste program at the U of A, and plays an integral part in the coordination and support of the U of A team carrying out the BOMA BESt building certification program.
Jessie has been working in the waste management industry for eight years and for the fifth year now she been an RCA board member with the last year as the RCA’s Secretary.
As a graduate from NAIT with a diploma in Environmental Sciences, Jessie enjoys running, hiking, travelling, camping and has always been passionate about waste reduction and sustainability.
