The Edmonton Waste Management Centre of Excellence is founded on the vision of a public-private partnership that unleashes innovation and promotes knowledge-sharing on all aspects of waste management. Since incorporating as a not-for-profit in 2003, the EWMCE has worked to achieve that vision; along the way developing an excellent track record of bringing together people, services and infrastructure to lead innovation in waste management. The Centre of Excellence is committed to developing practical, sustainable solutions to local and global waste management challenges. The Centre Members are Alberta Innovates–Technology Futures, AMEC Environment & Infrastructure, City of Edmonton, EPCOR Water Services, NAIT, and the University of Alberta.

Our mandate is to foster the development of state of the art knowledge, technology and facilities for solid waste and wastewater management through our three program areas: Research, Training and Education, and Technology Development.
