With a staff of over 30, Raven ReCentre serves the population of the Yukon, through its facility in Whitehorse. As the Executive Director for Raven, you lead the organization, manage a significant budget, advocate for better waste management practices with the territorial and municipal governments and keep Raven ReCentre positioned as a leader in progressive material management processes, through the creation and implementation of new zero waste initiatives.

Who are we?

  • We are a Board of 9 directors. Several of us have been on the Board for 10+ years. We come from a wide range of professions – educators and academics, biologists, business people, administrators, community developers – and we’re unified by our passion for the work of Raven ReCentre.
  • We’re solid. Raven owns a large piece of land, its equipment and its building, all located in an industrial area just outside of downtown.
  • Our current ED has been with us for 3 years, has transformed the organization, and is ready for some down time. Our last ED was with us for 25 years.

Who are you?

  • You are a Zero Waste visionary, a whiz with budgets and a seasoned business operator, who is flexible and a problem solver.
  • You are an innovator who understands the bigger picture of zero-waste initiatives and the challenges of progressive waste-management endeavours in a northern territory.
  • You have the ability to assess Raven ReCentre’s potential, within an ever-changing industry. And you know how to make new and exciting cost-recovery initiatives happen. You are professional and well-spoken and can use your diplomacy and negotiation skills when working with governments, while building partnerships and connections.
  • You like living in a small city that has big opportunities, and have the patience to work on a long-term Zero Waste vision for the territory.
  • You are experienced in working with Boards and appreciate a group of Board members who will guide you through the Carver Governance Model.
  • You have a sense of humour and are committed to the natural environment. You’re excited by this position and can’t wait to talk to us!
