Join the April 13 Webinar – EPR Impacts and Opportunities for AB Municipalities
On April 13 at 10 am MDT, the RCA will bring together municipalities from British Columbia to share their experiences on the transition to extended producer responsibility (EPR). Webinar participants will hear first-hand how the EPR transition rolled out in BC and be able to ask about impacts to municipalities. Alberta Environment and Parks will also be providing relevant municipal background on their EPR engagement process.
Speakers include Andrew Doi with Metro Vancouver, who will bring the perspective of members, including the City of Vancouver, who turned operation of its residential recycling program over to producers. Ben Van Nostrand and Cameron Baughen will represent rural regions, including the Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD), that operates the largest Recycle BC depot program in the Province for packaging and printed paper (PPP), and the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS).
Calgary City Councillor Peter Demong will moderate this webinar. Peter holds positions on the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association’s Executive Committee, Sustainability and Environment Committee, and the Plastics Alliance of Alberta. In addition to his tenure on City Council, Peter is recognized as one of Alberta’s strongest EPR supporters.
