Nominations open for 2018 AUMA Municipal Sustainability Awards for Environment

Are you a municipality with great environmental projects? Would you like to share your success with the rest of Alberta?

The Alberta Urban Municipalities Association (AUMA) is now accepting nominations for the 2018 Municipal Sustainability Awards. This year’s theme is environmental sustainability, which refers to a state in which the demands placed on the environment can be met without reducing its capacity to allow all people to live well, now and into the future.

The awards categories are:

  • Sustainability in Action: Awarded to an AUMA member that has demonstrated excellence in implementing its Municipal Sustainability Plan and achieving measurable outcomes in Environmental Sustainability.
  • New! Sustainability in Collaboration: Awarded to a group of two or more municipalities, which have demonstrated excellence in collaboratively implementing sustainability initiative(s) and achieving measurable environmental sustainability.
  • Above and Beyond: Recognizing staff, residents or other organizations who have played a significant role in implementing a municipality’s sustainability plan and achieving the community’s goals in environmental sustainability.

The deadline to submit your nomination is June 29, 2018. Winners will be announced during AUMA’s Annual Convention and featured in the Digest and AUMA’s website.
