The RCA Replaces 2020 Conference with Alternate Engagement Plans
The Recycling Council of Alberta’s Board of Directors has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Waste Reduction Conference, scheduled for October at Lake Louise.
In May we conducted a member survey and received great participation with feedback about your ability to attend the conference this year. Due to the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic, including health and budgetary constraints at different organizations, we decided it would be a better use of RCA resources to replace the conference with virtual options.
The Board realizes that the greatest benefits from the conference include networking and educational opportunities, so we are actively planning a series of webinars and workshops that will allow us to connect virtually and allow you to continue to access the benefits you have come to expect with your membership. There will be exciting opportunities for engagement through the webinar series, including presentations from internationally-renowned speakers and your local colleagues on topics of interest and relevance to the issues we are facing in our industry. We plan to deliver these events over the next year, with topics like Program Resiliency and Chemical Recycling.
The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise has been extremely accommodating through this entire process and has offered to maintain a block of rooms to allow members to take advantage of the very reasonable rates to book a getaway at one of Alberta’s best hotels (rates start at $257/night and reservations can be made here). Space can also be coordinated for corporate retreats and meetings. With the original room block booked for October 13-15, right after Thanksgiving, this is your chance to take advantage of this opportunity to enjoy the mountains on a long weekend.
Thank you for your continued support, enjoy the summer and anticipate details of the launch of the webinar series in your inbox shortly!
