Updated Code of Practice for Compost Facilities and Acceptable Feedstock and Amendment List Effective January 14, 2022

Alberta Environment and Parks (AEP) has released the updated Code of Practice for Compost Facilities and Acceptable Feedstock and Amendment List, which went into effect January 14th, 2022. The Code of Practice and List are anticipated to be published in the coming weeks by Alberta Environment and Parks.

The code was updated to reflect modern composting standards, improve environmental protection through enhancing requirements relating to considerations such as odour management, water resource protection, and setback distances. AEP engaged with stakeholders in 2020 and 2021 to gather feedback to inform the final draft.
