Best Wishes to Jack Astill in his Retirement

Connector April 2022

Jack is an icon in the recycling industry. He was born in Westlock, Alberta. Prior to becoming Manager of Allied Paper Savers in 1989, he was involved in a variety of industries, including oilfield, trucking, excavating, and bingo hall management. Jack was active with the Recycling Council of Alberta for many years, holding a variety of Board positions, including President. Jack has also been a strong community volunteer for most of his life, including coaching both baseball and hockey. Jack is well-known for his open, down-to-earth approach to developing recycling partnerships, which has earned him a reputation for honesty and integrity in the industry.

A Few Words by Jeff Hebner, General Manager of Capital Paper Recycling Ltd.’s Edmonton Branch

It is my great honour to say a few words regarding Mr. Jack Astill and his retirement.

I worked with Jack in the recycling industry for many years prior to luckily gaining Jacks’ favour back in 2007 and him deciding to join our Edmonton Capital team as the Sales Manager. I say Jack decided to join us because if you truly know Jack you know he does what Jack decides to do and not the other way around. He is a man of impeccable personal standards which include honesty and loyalty to his word. These characteristics are amongst the finest any person can be bestowed with. These characteristics are what build the foundation of our society. Those that know Jack through the decades of interactions both personally and professionally I’m sure would agree that he has qualities that enrich all touched by him.

Jack and I have had endless hours of business discussions to create win/win relationships with clients from all over western Canada. I would safely say this goal had an almost perfect success rate over the years. These relationships have to this day remained solid and wherever there is still recycling being done Jack has had a hand in nurturing its start-up and/or the continued processing of recyclables. I would say that Mr. Astill has been a pioneer of recycling in western Canada and has had a carrier that has spanned multiple decades and garnered hundreds of friends and respect from his peers and all who know him.

Please join Capital Paper Recycling Ltd. in extending best wishes to Jack in his retirement.

Jack came to us with a lifetime of professional skills in the recycling industry. Through his time as Sales Manager, Jack used his talents to elevate the profile of the industry and our company. Our company has grown and become stronger thanks to Jack, and he has touched many lives in the process.

We will always remember Jack’s time with us with fondness, admiration, and gratitude for his many contributions to the current and future recycling industry. Employees like Jack are hard to find and even harder to see retire.

Jack, I can’t think of another more deserving of retirement.

Have a wonderful extended golf vacation, Jack!
