RCA WIL Hub – Q&A

What is Work Integrated Learning (WIL)?

Work Integrated Learning (WIL) combines academic study with hands-on industry experience. Through the WIL Hub, RCA members can connect directly with the Career Services departments of post-secondary institutions to explore how students can support their projects. Opportunities may include internships, co-ops, mentorships, applied research, and community service learning. WIL helps students gain workplace skills while contributing to meaningful industry projects.

The WIL Hub connects RCA members with Alberta post-secondary institutions to access funded or subsidized student support for projects and employment. It is designed as an easy-to-use resource where members can learn about WIL opportunities and connect with schools to engage students in their projects, giving them practical, real-world experience and industry exposure.

For RCA Members

  • Access to emerging talent
  • Support for projects or capacity gaps

For Post-Secondary Institutions

  • Strengthens curriculum relevance
  • Supports graduate employment outcomes
  • Provides students with workplace readiness when they graduate through valuable industry experience.

The WIL Hub is a connector tool, not a jobs board. It’s about building connections between WIL programs offered at specific Alberta Post Secondary Institutions and RCA members with projects, not advertising positions.

The WIL Hub strengthens cross-sector collaboration, expands circular economy engagement, and closes gaps by supporting circular economy projects, especially in the ICI (Industrial, Commercial, Institutional) sector.

Specifically, it supports the RCA’s goals to:

  • Design and deliver programs that drive circular economy literacy and action.
  • Support the ICI sector in developing strategies to overcome Alberta’s circularity gap.
