​The Economics of a Circular Food System

​From the resources it takes to grow food, through the supply and distribution chains, to consumption, and all the way to diverting and converting the waste into a whole new resource — the value added at each step is compounded. The circular food economy is about retaining as much of that value, for its highest purpose, as possible. The only way to make sure that value isn’t lost is to expand the value in the eye of the beholder, and to put the systems in place so the cost of retaining it doesn’t outweigh the gain.
