Alberta’s Circular Innovations

Description: Join us to learn from Albertan trailblazers on their innovations, successes, and challenges as it relates to circular materials. Gain insight into ways they’re transforming items once considered waste into new products. From paving stones made from shingles to art made of recycled plastics, explore how you and your organization may be able to integrate these materials or technologies into your operations.

This event will be offered in a hybrid format and you may choose to attend in person at City Hall (1 Sir Winston Churchill Square, Edmonton Ab), or online via zoom. In person attendees will also have the opportunity to network with other members and enjoy some light refreshments from The Hallway Cafe. Presentations by:
Mehr Nikoo, Program Director, Bioindustrial and Circular Innovation, Alberta Innovates, discussing opportunities for the circular economy funding opportunities for innovation in Alberta.

David Babich, Co-Founder of Sustainable Paving Stones, a Calgary based company transforming used shingles into 100% recycled affordable paving stones built to withstand heavy use and Alberta temperatures.

Corey Saban, Founder and CEO of [Re] Waste, an Edmonton-based company that manages hard-to-recycle materials through its Landfill Diversion Program. They have developed circular packaging for the cannabis industry, created furniture displays, and offer waste audit services.

Rojine McVea, Co-Founder and President of ZeroDish, a student-led initiative facilitating a reusable dish share program to reduce single use items on university campuses and beyond.
