Earn a Certificate in Community-Based Social Marketing (CBSM)

Why earn a certificate in community-based social marketing (CBSM)? CBSM has become the gold standard for delivering programs to foster sustainable behavior. For example, in the US, the Department of Energy has recommended that all residential energy-efficiency programs be based on CBSM. Similarly, the EPA mandates that groundwater protection programs in several jurisdictions use this approach. Moreover, numerous agencies at the local, state/provincial, and federal levels expect staff or consultants to have training in this framework.

Dr. Doug McKenzie-Mohr is the founder of community-based social marketing and has trained more than 75,000 practitioners and consultants globally to use CBSM. On December 1st to 3rd, he will deliver his Fostering Sustainable Behavior virtual workshop, which consists of three four-hour sessions. These sessions are held at a convenient time for attendees from across North America and are highly rated, without the cost, inconvenience, or emissions associated with in-person training.

CBSM has been used in hundreds of waste-reduction programs. For example, CBSM-based initiatives have reduced littering, single-use plastics, illegal dumping, and food waste. It has also increased recycling and organics diversion and improved the proper disposal of pet waste and household hazardous waste.

Participants receive a copy of the new fourth edition of Fostering Sustainable Behavior and a certificate confirming completion of the community-based social marketing training.

Group rates are available for teams of four or more (email dmm@cbsm.com for details).
