Nominations Are Now Open For The 2026 Rs of Excellence Awards 


The Recycling Council of Alberta (RCA) is proud to announce that nominations are now open for the 2026 Rs of Excellence Awards — Alberta’s premier recognition program celebrating individuals, organizations, and initiatives advancing a circular economy through waste reduction, resource conservation, and innovation. 

Across Alberta, changemakers, businesses, municipalities, educators, and community leaders are finding new ways to reduce waste, keep resources in use, and create lasting environmental impact. The Rs of Excellence Awards shine a spotlight on these achievements and inspire others to take action. 

If you know a person, municipality, business, or initiative making an outstanding contribution to Rethinking, Reducing, Reusing, Repurposing, or Remanufacturing or Recycling products or material in Alberta, we encourage you to submit a nomination. Self-nominations are welcome; don’t wait for someone else to tell your story. 

NOMINEES WILL BE EVALUATED ON: 

  • Quantifiable waste reduction and measurable circular economy impact
  • Innovation and progress toward circularity 
  • Leadership, inspiration, and demonstrated track record 
  • Long-term commitment to environmental sustainability 

2026 AWARD CATEGORIES 
Each category recognizes a different aspect of leadership and impact within Alberta’s circular economy: 

  • Lifetime Achievement — a career of sustained leadership and contribution 
  • Political Leader — advancing circular economy priorities through policy and advocacy 
  • Business Leader — organizations delivering measurable environmental impact 
  • Educational Leader — building awareness, knowledge, and capacity 
  • Changemaker — inspiring community-driven action and engagement 
  • Innovation — pioneering ideas, technologies, and approaches 
  • Impact — achieving significant and measurable results

HOW TO NOMINATE: 
Submitting a nomination is simple. Complete the online nomination form at recycle.ab.ca/rs-of-excellence-nomination and provide a description of the nominee’s achievements, goals, and measurable outcomes. 

Nominations close September 11, 2026. 

This is more than an award program; it’s an opportunity to recognize the people and organizations creating meaningful change across Alberta. Help us celebrate the leaders, innovators, and changemakers building a more circular and resilient future.
