RCA Member Spotlight – Plastic-Free YYC

Connector April 2022

The RCA is advancing a circular economy in the province of Alberta. As a non-profit, charitable organization, we accomplish our goals by working collaboratively with and for our members and partners. This month, the RCA is proud to spotlight one of its members – Plastic-Free YYC.

Plastic-Free YYC is a non-profit organization leading Calgarians to reduce single-use plastic waste and create a circular economy. They believe that engaging all sectors of society – inspiring individuals, collaborating with businesses, and working with government leaders – is how change will happen. Their fully volunteer-run team is comprised of plastic-free and zero-waste experts who are passionate about raising awareness of the overall impact of plastic on our community and our planet.

Vision: They envision Calgary to be first major prairie city to be plastic-free.

Mission: Providing local and global information to live a plastic free lifestyle, as well as show through education how plastic affects all organisms and ourselves. The plastic-free movement tends to be more prominent in coastal regions therefore the PFYYC organisation aims to bring awareness to all “land-locked” citizens.

Values: Integrity ~ Education ~ Inclusion ~ Community ~ Collaboration
