Wishing Deborah Wehnes a Happy Retirement: Honouring a Waste Reduction Champion

The Recycling Council of Alberta extends our warmest thanks to Deborah Wehnes as she retires from her role as Waste and Recycling Coordinator at the Calgary Board of Education.
A longtime RCA volunteer and former board member, Deborah has played a key role in advancing waste diversion in Alberta’s largest school district, supporting more than 250 schools and 142,000 students since 2008. Her work has helped build strong waste reduction habits among generations of students and staff.
Her leadership and dedication have diverted incredible amounts of waste from landfills across Alberta. She helped embed waste diversion into school culture and inspired the next generation of environmental leaders.
Thank you, Deborah, for everything. We wish you all the best in your next chapter.
