Call for Judges: Join the 2026 Rs of Excellence Awards Committee

The Recycling Council of Alberta (RCA) is seeking two RCA members to join the 2026 Rs of Excellence Awards Committee as volunteer judges, supporting the nomination review and evaluation process for the RCA’s annual awards program.

As nominations are now open for the 2026 Rs of Excellence Awards, we’re looking for experienced and engaged members to help evaluate submissions and recognize the individuals, organizations, and initiatives advancing Alberta’s circular economy.

What is the Rs of Excellence Awards Committee?

The Rs of Excellence Awards Committee oversees the annual awards program, and volunteer judges support the Committee by reviewing nominations, evaluating submissions against the award criteria, and helping select recipients across the seven award categories:

Judges and committee members work collaboratively to ensure the selection process is fair, objective, and reflective of the outstanding work taking place across Alberta.

Who we’re looking for?

We’re seeking for two RCA members to serve as volunteer judges who:

• Have knowledge of Alberta’s circular economy, waste reduction, recycling, or resource conservation sectors.
• Can commit time to reviewing and evaluating nominations.
• Bring a fair, objective, and thoughtful approach to evaluating nominees.
• Do not intend to submit or be nominated for a 2026 Rs of Excellence Award.

What’s involved?

Serving as a judge is an opportunity to contribute to one of the RCA’s signature recognition programs while gaining insight into the innovative work taking place across Alberta.

The primary time commitment for volunteer judges will occur during the nomination review period following the September 11, 2026 nomination deadline, when submissions are reviewed and evaluated.
