Celebrate Circular Economy Month This October

Connector August 2024

Canada’s annual public awareness campaign Circular Economy Month is back October 1st-31st 2024. Municipalities, businesses, individuals, and schools from coast to coast are invited to learn about the circular economy and take action.

Each year, millions of Canadians take part on social media, participate in events, learn about the circular economy, and proclaimed their government or organization’s support.

The month is structured into weekly themes to focus the conversation and celebrate different aspects of the circular economy.

How to Get Involved

Make a Declaration

Municipalities, organizations, and businesses are invited to show their commitment and celebrate sustainability by officially declaring Oct. 1 – 31 as Circular Economy Month.

To declare, please fill out the form at CircularEconomyMonth.ca. When declaring you will be asked to submit at least one of the following:

  1. Sign a certificate
  2. Written statement
  3. Video declaration (highly encouraged to make the biggest impact to your audience! See the 2023 federal proclamation as an example.)

Take the Circular Economy Month Pledge

Will you commit to line-drying your laundry? Repairing before repurchasing? Or will you try out public transportation on your next outing? New for this year, individuals can take a Pledge to Take Action. Get inspired by a list of 30 changes you can do, from quick and simple to big commitments. By pledging you will unlock bonus images you can use to share your Pledge on social media!

Organize an Event or Landmark Lighting

Organizing or attending an event is a great way to get involved in your community. Events include webinars, collection drives, facility tours, repair cafes, swaps, documentary screenings, landmark lightings, and more.

Event organizers can register their event at CircularEconomyMonth.ca. Registered events are amplified through program communications channels and organizers will receive an official badge that can be used in event marketing materials.

Share on Social Media & Download Communications Kits

Interested in participating in Circular Economy Month this October but not sure where to start? Download the program Communications Kits to find a suite of social media assets and ideas for getting involved.
