Cleanfarms: The Great Twine Round Up Contest 2026

Connector March 2026

From Jan 19 – May 31, 2026, farmers, 4-H Clubs, and residents across Alberta can recycle used plastic baler twine for a chance to win $12,000 in total cash prizes.

The more twine collected, the greater the impact—keeping plastic out of landfills and transforming agricultural materials into new resources.

This is the final week for 4-H Clubs to enter the early bird draw for $3,000! Bring bags of twine to a collection site and submit an entry by February 28.
The draw will take place on March 4, with the winner notified by March 9.

🌱 Expanding the Vision: Textile Circularity in Alberta

Did you know that plastic baler twine is technically a textile? While we often think of textiles as clothing, their applications go far beyond fashion—from agriculture to industrial systems. When we rethink these materials through a circular lens, their upcycling potential becomes enormous.

At the upcoming Explore Circularity Day 2026 on March 19, we’ll explore how textile circularity reaches far beyond clothing—from agricultural plastics to industrial fibers and emerging reuse innovations.

This is about unlocking the hidden value in materials we use every day. By connecting sectors and ideas, Alberta can turn overlooked resources into circular opportunities—and help shape the future of textile circularity.
