Meet the RCA’s New Operations Manager

Jim Gordon, the Recycling Council of Alberta’s new Operations Manager, comes to us with 30 years of experience creating and managing non-profit programs that enhance communities.
He has worked with at-risk youth, persons with disabilities returning to the workplace, ill and injured veterans and RCMP, and marginalized populations accessing post-secondary education at Mount Royal University.
Most recently, he was the Community Engagement Coordinator at ABCRC where he managed the Community Champions grant program providing Alberta municipalities and non-profits with grants to purchase recycling and waste infrastructure. He was particularly passionate about the School Recycling Program he ran as he got to work with a population totally new to him—fourth graders doing in-class recycling presentations and creating educational materials to promote reducing, reusing, and recycling! Their passion for the environment fueled his passion for environmental issues as well.
Jim is a proud graduate of the University of Oregon and still an avid Oregon Duck football fan. When not engrossed in a Duck football game, Jim is also an avid motorcycle enthusiast and guitar collector. Now if he could just learn to play them!
