The RCA Thanks Jim Gordon

The Recycling Council of Alberta would like to share its appreciation for Jim Gordon and acknowledge the dedication, warmth, and professionalism he brought to his role as Operations Manager. As the RCA advances its 2030 Strategic Plan, the Operations Manager position has evolved into a new Programs and Partnerships role, marking the conclusion of Jim’s time with the organization.
Jim joined the RCA in 2022 with more than thirty years of experience creating and supporting programs that strengthen communities. His work has spanned a remarkable range of sectors, including support for at-risk youth, persons with disabilities returning to the workforce, ill and injured veterans and RCMP officers, and students accessing education at Mount Royal University.
Before joining the RCA, Jim served as the Community Engagement Coordinator at ABCRC, where he managed the Community Champions grant program and supported Alberta municipalities and non-profits in accessing recycling and waste infrastructure funding. He was especially proud of his work with the School Recycling Program, delivering in-class presentations to fourth grade students and helping create educational materials that encouraged students to reduce, reuse, and recycle.
He approached every task with care, and his steady presence was appreciated by staff, partners, and members. His thoughtful nature, willingness to help, and commitment made a positive difference across many areas of our work.

From Jennifer Koole, Executive Director
“As I transitioned into the role of Executive Director, Jim was truly a soft place to land. His insight, advice, and steady encouragement were invaluable to me every step of the way. Jim brings a genuine passion for reducing food waste and supporting social enterprises — especially where those two priorities intersect. I will miss our thoughtful conversations and the well-timed humorous GIFs that always brightened my day. I wish Jim all the best as he embarks on his next chapter.”
We are grateful for the time Jim spent with the RCA and extend our sincere thanks for his contributions and the spirit he brought to our work. We wish him the very best in his future endeavours.
