B.C. pauses work on non-residential EPR expansion
The Ministry of Environment and Parks have paused work on regulating non-residential packaging and paper products, including potential updates to extended producer responsibility (EPR) requirements under the Recycling Regulation.
The pause is intended to balance current priorities and resource capacity and does not indicate cancellation. Work is expected to resume in alignment with broader policy direction.
Input received through recent consultations will be retained to inform future policy development. In the interim, the Province continues advancing circular economy efforts through solid waste management planning, with a focus on waste reduction, reuse, and recycling strategies.
