Emissions Reduction Alberta (ERA) launches the annual Industrial Transformation Challenge – Applications are now open.

Emissions Reduction Alberta (ERA) has launched the Industrial Transformation Challenge 2026, a funding initiative supporting technologies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and advance industrial decarbonization across Alberta.

The competition is open to applicants across Alberta’s industrial and natural resource sectors, including agriculture, forestry, manufacturing, electricity, and oil and gas. Projects must demonstrate technologies in a real-world environment, with funding ranging from $500,000 to $10 million per project, covering up to 50% of eligible expenses.

Priority areas include: 

  • Emissions reduction and process efficiency
  • Low-carbon technology development and deployment
  • Advanced materials and circular economy solutions, such as waste-to-value conversion, circular manufacturing (including plastics), industrial symbiosis, recycling of energy materials, and critical minerals development

Applications are now open. The due date is June 17, 2026 (5:00 p.m. MDT). 

Organizations are encouraged to review eligibility criteria and submit proposals through ERA’s official program page.
