Five Things You Didn’t Know About the RCA Conference
The 2021 RCA annual conference, Through the Looking Glass, will take place from September 29th to October 1st, 2021, in the heart of the Canadian Rockies at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel. This year’s RCA conference topics will include dialogue around the circular economy and waste reduction.

Five interesting facts about the 2021 RCA annual conference:
1. Finding the Jabberwocky – Banff Zero Waste Trail Scavenger Hunt

Wednesday, September 29th from 6:00 pm-7:30 pm
Description: Conference participants will team up for a fun scavenger hunt that will feature Banff’s Trailblazers – businesses that are leading the way on zero waste initiatives. Teams will be given mini-challenges that will highlight each Trailblazer’s efforts to move toward zero waste. Challenges will be facilitated by the Trailblazers spokespeople, passionate staff people, and the Trailblazers awards committee at each location.
You will be able to register for the scavenger hunt when you check in at the conference!
Prizes: Teams that complete the most challenges will win gift cards to the Trailblazers businesses.
2. Down the Rabbit Hole Golf Tournament
On September 29th, there will be a 9-hole golf tournament with shotgun starting at 11:00 am on the Tunnel course. Renowned for its panoramic beauty, The Fairmont Banff Springs Golf Course is a captivating and challenging layout set in the heart of Canada’s Rocky Mountains.

3. Banquet Costume Contest
For the Thursday evening banquet, we are requesting you dress according to our “Through the Looking Glass” conference theme by channelling your inner Alice in Wonderland. Best costume will win a FREE registration to the 2022 RCA conference!
4. Professional Development Credits
The RCA conference is on Alberta Environment and Parks’ list of approved courses for continuing education for the Alberta Landfill and Composting Facility Operator Certification Program. Conference delegates who are members of other professional or regulatory bodies or associations that have a Continued Professional Development program may want to check with the association to find out whether conference attendance can be counted towards their certification renewal.
5. Student & Grassroots
A limited number of free grassroots and student registrations are available. These include attendance for one person at the conference, including scheduled meals and sessions (NOT including travel, accommodation, other expenses). For further information, please contact our office.
