Meet the 2018 Summer Ambassadors!
The RCA’s Recycling Ambassadors are back and have an exciting summer planned this year. We have eight amazing summer students working on several projects around the Province. Ambassadors had the opportunity to learn about the various recycling programs in Alberta through an intense week of training in May that included tours at Cascades Recovery+, Calibre Environmental, Edmonton Waste Management Centre, City of Calgary Composting Facility, Liberty Tire, Shanked Recycling, and Broadview Enviroservice Station in Sherwood Park.
Rachelle, Duckworth, Barnabas Tersoo-Gwaza, Kate Nugent, and Braden Willerton are Team Calgary. During the first month into the job, they have been busy completing an Alberta Used Oil Management Association (AUOMA) collection site practices review, conducting customer surveys to visitors who use Rocky View County’s recycling trailers (“Chuckwagons”), and on weekends, they assisted The City of Calgary with their Compost Giveaway event.
Jorren Meeussen, Ashely Horn, Dallis Cartwright, and Emma Cooke are Team Edmonton. They have been occupied working for GFL assisting with large item pickups, visual waste audits, and school presentations. On weekends, they have been attending Alberta Recycling Roundup events with promotional tent and educational materials illustrating the electronics and paint recycling programs.
If you have a project that could benefit from the help of the RCA’s Summer Ambassadors, contact Paulina Retamales at firstname.lastname@example.org or 780.405.1146 to discuss project costs and your requirements. Project duration can vary from one day to several weeks.
