New Sustainability Director for Fairmont Hotels
Mortimer Capriles has been appointed Director, Sustainability, Canada’s Western Mountain Region, for Fairmont Hotels.
Mortimer will be responsible for overseeing the environmental stewardship programs for Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, Fairmont Banff Springs, Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, and Fairmont Chateau Whistler. He will participate and take a leading role in each property’s sustainability committee; manage municipal, provincial, and federal government incentives; and liaise with Parks Canada and all levels of government to meet all regulatory requirements; among other duties.
Mortimer began his career in hospitality at Fairmont Royal York where he worked as a Front Office Intern. He joins the Mountain Region team from his most recent role as Environmental Systems Manager at Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, a position he has held since April 2015.
Mortimer holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geography from the Central University of Venezuela; a Certificate in Strategic Urban Planning from the Ibero-American Centre for Strategic Urban Development; a Certificate in Environmental Planning from the Central University of Venezuela; a Diploma in Hospitality Management from Centennial College in Toronto; and a Certificate in Project Leadership from Cornell University.
